Being a literature lover from way back (I worked in book stores for years and started my career in book publishing), the thought of books colliding with nature, fjords, a little village, well, there’s not much more to say Most people come to experience its pair of particularly accessible glacial tongues, Supphellebreen and Bøyabreen, but Fjærland is also known as the Book Town of Norway (www.bokbyen.no) – 10 shops in town sell secondhand books, mostly in Norwegian, but some in English and other languages too. The Norwegian book town sells used books in beautiful Fjærland. Here are 150,000 books in all categories, for all interests - all well sorted. Quite possibly Norways most beautiful bookstore! The Norwegian Booktown is situated in Mundal, the centre of Fjærland. Located where the Sognefjord meets the Jostedalsbreen Glacier with its white and blue arms hanging down steep mountains, you’ll find Fjærland with almost 300 inhabitants. It is Norway’s official international Book Town!

Fjærland is Norway's book town and stocks about 2.5 miles of shelves filled wi Fjærland is the area surrounding a branch of the Sognefjord, close to the Jostedalsbreen - the largest glacier on mainland Europe. From Fjærland you have easy access to the glacierswith a car or public transportation. The Glacierbus in Fjærland takes the passengers that come with the boat, on a roundtrip to The Glaciermuseum, the glacier Bøyabreen (Supphellebreen) and back to the pier in Mundal/ Fjærland. For those who arrive with the morning boat, the bus goes to both glaciers. After returning to the pier in Mundal, there is plenty of time to visit the Booktown, before the boat returns Supphellebreen, at an elevation of 60 m, is the lowest lying glacier in Southern Norway. Parts of Fjærland lie within Jostedalsbreen National Park.
